3 Safety

3.1 Intendeduse

ThemodulemaybeusedforfailsafeapplicationsinsystemenvironmentB(automation

systemPSS4000).

ThemodulesPSSuEFAIIandPSSuEFAIITmaybeusedasasafetycomponentin

accordancewiththeLiftsDirective95/16/EC,EN811,EN812andEN1151.

Theprogrammablesafetysystemshouldbeinstalledinaprotectedenvironmentthatmeets

atleasttherequirementsofpollutiondegree2.Example:Protectedinsidespaceorcontrol

cabinetwithprotectionclassIP54andcorrespondingairconditioning.

Themoduleprovidesananalogueinput.

TheanalogueinputmeetstherequirementsofENIEC62061:SILCL2.Toachievehigher

safetyvalues,twoanalogueinputswillneedtobeused.PLe(Cat.4)andSILCL3can

beachievedasaresultofredundantinputdata.

Themoduleguaranteesfunctionalsafety,butnotthesafetyoftheentireprocess.

With1channeloperation,checkthefeasibiltyofthemeasuredvaluewithananticip

atedmeasuredvalueinordertodetectmeasurementerrorsandoffseterrorsonthe

sensor,ortodetectopencircuitandshortcircuitbetweensensorandmodule.

With1channeloperation,useasensorthatmeetstherequirementsofENIEC62061:

With2channeloperation,checkthefeasibilitybyusingtwoinputsandtwosensors.

Takeappropriatemeasurestoavoidcommoncauseerrorsinthesensortechnology,by

usingdiversesensorsoraseparatesupplyvoltageforthesensors,forexample.

Monitoradefinedmeasuringrangetodetectopencircuitorshortcircuit:werecom

Themeasuredvalueisattenuatedthroughtheinputfilter.Atthecutofffrequency,theamp

litudeofthemeasuredvalueis70%oftheamplitudeoftheinputsignal.

Westronglyrecommendtheuseofthefollowingfunctionblocks:

requirementsdemandedbyrailwayapplications(seeTechnicalDetails).

IntendeduseincludesmakingtheelectricalinstallationEMCcompliant.Pleaserefertothe

guidelinesstatedinthe"PSSuniversalInstallationManual".Themoduleisdesignedforuse

inanindustrialenvironment.Itisnotsuitableforuseinadomesticenvironment,asthiscan

leadtointerference.
